Plaster to the People...

 My first opportunity to teach happened in August 2010 through the Youth Build program. Youth Build is a program that trains at risk youth in the construction trades. Being a tradeswoman and plasterer with a passion for teaching, I jumped on the opportunity.

Lesson plans and tools packed. I headed off to South Seattle Community College to teach a full day earth plaster workshop to 17 young men just entering the construction trades. That day, we plastered walls, did some graffiti and handprints. I left feeling like a whole community was built that day, so much more than a small house.
